Mary M. Scott passed away at her Riverdale home with children by her side on Sunday, March 11, 2018. She was born on June 23, 1936 to Frances and Charles McKiernan in Mt. Vernon, NY. She was the beloved wife of James F. Scott (predeceased) and sister of James McKiernan (predeceased). She is survived by her brother Joseph McKiernan and his wife Marie, and her sister-in-law Patricia McKiernan, as well as her five loving children: Marie McNamee and her husband Jay, James Scott and his wife Erin, Ann Scott Root, Daniel Scott and his wife Ann, and Kathy Scott. “Nanny Mary” also leaves behind eight cherished grandchildren: Sean, Shannon, Ryan, Erin, Clare, Keeley, Trevor, and Ruari; and “Aunt Mary” leaves seven nieces and nephews: Geraldine (Gerri) Frank and her husband John, Dorothy (Dori) Kincaid and her husband David, James Lehane (predeceased) and his wife Mary, Jim McKiernan and his wife Karen, Doug McKiernan and his wife Christy, Joseph McKiernan and his wife Michele, and Michael McKiernan and his wife Katy.

Mary, (with her beloved husband Jim) worked for the Cross Country and Track division of the Catholic High School Athletic Association (CHSAA) for over 20 years as a meet organizer and administrator, a job she truly loved and where she will be inducted as the first woman member into the CHSAA Hall of Fame on Thursday, May 10th, 2018. A dear friend to many, she will be missed. Her spirit and memory will live forever in our hearts. 

Mary will be waked on Thursday, March 15th, 2018 from 2-5 pm and 7-9 pm at Riverdale-on-Hudson Funeral Home, 6110 Riverdale Avenue, Bronx NY. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Francis Xavier High School or the Northeast Province of the Society of Jesus. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, March 16th at 9:45 am at St. Margaret of Cortona Church.
