Rosa Teresa Pascasio Zarzuela

Rosa Teresa Pascasio Zarzuela

Born on October 3, 1945 in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic to Rafael A. Pascasio and Getrudis (Vicioso) Pascasio. Rosa Teresa went to be with our Lord on October 24, 2018.

Rosa Teresa or Tété, as she’s best known to her family and close friends,  is survived by her husband, Ramon Zarzuela; her children, Jacqueline and Antonio, Robert and Rosalyn, and Vanessa and Andres; and her grandchildren, Samantha, Alexandra, Robert, Raquel, Xavier, Gabriel, and Amalia. She will also be forever remembered by a number of other extended family members and dear friends.

Tété immigrated to the U.S. in her late teens and became a seamstress and worked for many years in the garment industry in New York City. While her two oldest children were still quite young, Tété attended night school at George Washington High School to complete credits to obtain her high school diploma.   Later, she and her husband Ramon, became business owners, managing grocery stores and a small apartment building. Since retiring, Tété and Ramon dedicated themselves to their family spending copious amounts of time helping to raise their grandchildren in New York and spending the winters with extended family in their native Dominican Republic.  Tété volunteered in various ministries of the Manhattan Bible Church (MBC). Tété’s honed skills in serving people and negotiation were put to good use as she faithfully served in the Love Kitchen pantry and flea markets to help raise funds for the Transformation Life Center, a drug rehabilitation center supported by MBC.

Tété deeply loved her family, enjoyed cooking, providing for the needs of the less fortunate, and tending orchids. She was a natural teacher and counselor and could frequently be found speaking to young persons encouraging them to make thoughtful decisions.
