Steven Getzoff

Steven Getzoff, age 66, passed away peacefully on September 4, 2018 in Montefiore Hospital in Bronx, New York. He was born in 1952 to Martha and Lester Getzoff.  He is the beloved husband of Margaret Prince whom he married in 1980 and they had two sons Theodore and Ronald. Steve worked most of his life on Intellectual Property and Trade Mark management, working at companies such as American Express.  Working along with this son's career as a singer he met John Bowzer Baumen. With Mr. Baumen's help, he was able to get legislation passed regarding the labeling of records/CDs on behalf of musicians who were upset about contemporary groups who use classic groups' names (The Drifters, Supremes and Coasters for example) even though none of the members performed on any of the albums. Steve also received a military award for his Military Blog.  Steve's blog became the only way for military service personnel, who had been out of the service for a while, to find each other.  This blog stood out as such a great help that the Military wanted to recognize this achievement with honor. Steve is warmly remembered for his bear hugs, his humor,  his incredible memory, and love of books. He has, throughout his life been a searcher of truth.  This last is best quoted by his hero Whittaker Chambers "A man is not primarily a witness against something. That is only incidental to the fact that he is a witness for something."

Reposing Thursday September 6, 2018 from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at Riverdale-on-Hudson Funeral Home, 6110 Riverdale Avenue, Bronx NY. Mass of Christian Burial 9:45 am at St. Margaret of Cortona Church.  Committal private.
