Evaristo "Pitin" Gonzalez Velazquez

Evaristo "Pitin" Gonzalez Velazquez passed away on Sunday, September 28th.  Husband to the late Natalia Gonzalez, he is survived by three children, Maritza Rodriguez, Jorge Gonzalez and Evaristo Gonzalez Jr. and three grandchildren, Andres Alberto Rodriguez, Evaristo Jorge Gonzalez and Aidan Timothy Gonzalez.  Evaristo was born in Barceloneta, Puerto Rico in 1933, followed the love of his life to New York City and made a home for his family in the South Bronx, NY, where he spent more than 50 years.  He lived a very simple life.  Among his greatest passions, were his wife, his family, his beloved Borinquen and his Mets.  He always wanted more for his children; he demonstrated this in making sure they were the first generation to attend and graduate college, and allowing them to become Yankee fans.  He was a devout member of St. Jerome's parish.  He was most proud of his service to his country, where he served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.  He has left his indelible imprint on his family whom he leaves behind and will be dearly missed.

The wake is being held Tuesday September 30th from 4-8pm at Riverdale-on-Hudson Funeral Home, 6110 Riverdale Avenue, Bronx NY. The Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Wednesday 10am at Our Lady of Grace Church, 3985 Bronxwood Avenue, Bronx NY.  Burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery.

Esposo de la fallecida Natalia Gonzalez, es sobrevivido por sus tres hijos, Maritza Rodriguez, Jorge Gonzalez y Evaristo Gonzalez Jr. y sus tres nietos, Andres Alberto Rodriguez, Evaristo Jorge Gonzalez y Aidan Timothy Gonzalez.  Evaristo nació en Barceloneta, Puerto Rico, en el 1933, sitio al gran amor de su vida a Nueva York y formo su hogar en el Sur de Bronx, donde vivio mas de 50 anos.  Vivio una vida muy simple, Entre sus grandes pasiones, estaba sus esposa, su familia, su querido Borinquen y sus "Mets".  Siempre queria mas para sus hijos, demostro esto enasegurar que su primera generacion fueran graduados de Universidad y dejandolo hacer fanaticos de los "Yankees".  Fue un devote miembro de la parroquia de San Geronimo.  Siempre fue muy orgulloso de su participacion en el "Army", donde siervio en la Guerra de Korea. A dejado su legado en su familia quien lo van a extranar mucho.
